In H-Town can go out and have fun outdoors all year round!
If you want to stay in shape all you have to do is go to some of the trails for running or biking, all of which add up to 100 miles, to the golf courses or public or private parks (56,405 acres total) Houston offers.
Just inside the Loop, the 1,500-acre Memorial Park and Seymour Lieberman Exercise Trail trail attracts about 10,000 riders daily. Golf courses and tennis courts and opportunities for swimming and bicycling are also very attractive to those who like to exercise. At the edge of the park is the Houston Arboretum and Nature Center, a nature sanctuary of 155 acres of land that also offers exhibitions at its Discovery Room.
In Hermann Park, one of the public spaces and green city greater historical significance, visitors have plenty to see and do. During the course of the years, the Houston Zoo, Miller Outdoor Theatre, the Houston Museum of Natural Science, the Japanese Garden and the golf course – one of the first public parks in the successful integration of races in the United States – have contributed the importance of the park as a recreational and tourist destination.
Discovery Green Park downtown offers many amenities, including water interactive installations, live music, Pilates classes, farmers markets, Wi-Fi and one acre Kinder Lake extension that operates as a skating rink in winter and as lake the rest of the year.
